WiFi Citywide Mesh Network

Canfone.com Inc. provides WiFi Mesh network deployment solutions to provide cost effective WiFi coverage over a large coverage area.  A combination of wireless mesh nodes provides for the back-haul connectivity to enterprise level WiFi Access Points serving users’ wireless devices inside a given coverage area.  Typical users of the WiFi Mesh solution include municipal governments, public safety organizations and commercial enterprises to offer WiFi connectivity across one network.

WiFi Mesh Network Project in Montreal

Canfone.com Inc. has formed a joint venture (Umbrella Networks) with several partners to roll-out a WiFi Mesh project in Montreal.

Latest News:

• We are pleased to announce that we have secured sponsorship for WiFi Mesh equipment from systems integrators, Telinternet Inc and Teksys inc.
• The WiFI Mesh equipment being provided is a leading carrier class solution from Firetide Inc.
• In addition to the network equipment a full server side solution is being provided by Canfone Inc.
• Umbrella Networks  includes project  partners:  Telinternet Inc., Canfone.com Inc., Teksys Inc. and Mobility Go Inc.

Upon completion of infrastructure the following services will now be available:

1. Free Public Wifi (data limits applicable)
2. Local Mobile information and advertising
3. Local  Tourist Portal (Hotels, events, places of interest,)
4. Montreal residents portal (government services, local news, social and multimedia networking)
5. Security monitoring platform for SVPM and local emergency services.
6. Free local government intranet access

Municipalities

Local government employees will have access to the network for secure communication to local government websites and intranets.
While residents and visitors will have access to local resident/tourist portals, for publicity, information and interactivity.

During first phase Umbrella Networks will provide 5 panoramic security cameras, which can be connected to any point on the network instantly and relayed to any police or emergency workers both at control centers or directly from another location within the network via a mobile application.

Residents and Visitors

Free WiFi (data limits apply), in addition to internet access, residents and visitors will be able to access a wide range of local services  for information on local businesses, events and services. A social and multimedia portal will allow users to connect and share experiences across the city. Users will be able to quickly discover live events and keep in touch with the daily happenings across the downtown area.
